Lam Research Drives Workforce Development Through Skill Development Program for Advanced Manufacturing

Lam Research Corp. is advancing its commitment to workforce development through a strategic initiative focused on equipping individuals from disadvantaged communities with industry-relevant skills and expanding their access to roles in advanced manufacturing.

As India continues to focus on building high-value, technology-driven manufacturing hubs across the country, industrial clusters have seen growth in sectors including electronics, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, precision engineering, EVs and medical devices manufacturing.

The Lam Research Skill Development Program has launched as an India-based CSR initiative and will provide training and placement support to help strengthen the talent pipeline for India’s advanced manufacturing sector—expanding the skilled workforce pool, improving job readiness, and supporting more inclusive workplaces. The program’s pilot rollout in Bengaluru commenced in May 2026, with beneficiary outreach and training already underway.

Program Overview

The Lam Research Skill Development Program falls within the Capital Goods Skill Council, with NSQF Level 3 alignment. The program is administered by Lam’s implementation partner, which delivers a 240-hour intensive, industry-aligned training program designed specifically for assembly line operator roles. Key training components of the program include electronics and mechanical assembly fundamentals; shop floor manufacturing processes; quality and inspection practices; safety, health and compliance; and workplace and employability skills. The program also includes structured assessments, hands-on practical exposure, and job-readiness modules.

The participants who successfully complete the program will receive an industry-recognized certification aligned to manufacturing industry requirements by an affiliated assessment agency of National Skill Development Council (NSDC). Through the implementation partner, successful candidates will also receive placement support for assembly line operator jobs.

In the last few years, the company has launched a series of workforce development initiatives in its effort to develop a robust pipeline of talent to meet the industry’s future demands. One of the most prominent is a partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) to democratize access to semiconductor manufacturing learning via Lam’s Semiverse® Solutions. The software suite brings virtual fabrication, simulation and hands-on learning into universities, providing the next generation of engineers with critical experience in semiconductor manufacturing processes.
