NCERT releases new Class 9 textbooks; Maths out now, Social Science from Sept 30

NCERT has started releasing revised Grade 9 textbooks for 2026-27, with Ganita Manjari – Part 2 already on sale and Understanding Society: India and Beyond – Part 2 due on September 30. The move advances the NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023 curriculum shift through a planned phased rollout.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training, NCERT, has announced the rollout of new Class 9 textbooks for the 2026-27 academic session. The revised Mathematics textbook is now available for purchase, while the Social Science book will be released on September 30.

The latest editions have been developed as part of the implementation of the revised curriculum under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.

The Class 9 Mathematics textbook, Ganita Manjari – Part 2, has been printed and is available for sale from September 21, 2026. Students, teachers, parents and schools can purchase the textbook through NCERT's authorised sales channels. The book is part of the revised curriculum being implemented for the 2026-27 academic session.

SOCIAL SCIENCE TEXTBOOK TO BE AVAILABLE FROM SEPTEMBER 30

The new Class 9 Social Science textbook, Understanding Society: India & Beyond – Part 2, will be available for sale from September 30, 2026, NCERT said.

Students and schools will be able to purchase the book through the same authorised channels once it is available. As per the official notice, both NCERT textbooks can be purchased through NCERT Sales Counters, its official website and Amazon.

The council has advised students, teachers, parents and schools to obtain the prescribed textbooks through these authorised sales channels for the 2026-27 academic session.

TEXTBOOKS ALIGNED WITH NEP 2020, NCF-SE 2023

The new editions have been developed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.

According to NCERT, the textbooks are designed to support the evolving learning needs of students while facilitating the implementation of the revised curricular approach in schools.

The council also clarified that the two textbooks are being made available according to the already approved schedule and plan.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR GRADE 9 STUDENTS

For students preparing for the 2026-27 academic session, the revised Mathematics textbook is already available for purchase, while the new Social Science textbook will be released for sale on September 30.

The latest release is part of NCERT's broader, phased rollout of textbooks aligned with the revised school curriculum.

NCERT's latest textbook rollout marks another step in the implementation of the revised curriculum under NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023, with more updated learning resources being introduced for students in the new academic session.
