Arivihan raises $10M as AI-led edtech targets India’s smaller cities

Arivihan will use the new capital to expand across states and CBSE, strengthen AI and vernacular capabilities, and broaden access to personalised learning.

Arivihan, an AI-powered learning platform for school students, has raised $10 million in a Series A round, co-led by existing investors Accel and Prosus Ventures, with another $200,000 from existing GSF angel investors.

The new funding takes the Indore-based company’s total raised capital to more than $15 million. Arivihan said it will use the money to enter new states and the CBSE board, strengthen AI research and vernacular, or local-language, capabilities, and expand digital marketing and on-ground distribution.

Founded in 2022 by IIT Roorkee alumni Ritesh Singh Chandel and Sonu Kumar, with maths educator Rushabh Kothari, Arivihan has built a fully automated tutoring platform. It combines interactive video lessons, instant doubt-solving and AI-driven study plans that adapt to a student’s performance.

Unlike conventional coaching that depends heavily on live teachers, its model is designed to automate much of the learning support. It currently serves State Board, CBSE and NEET learners, mainly Class 12 students in Tier II and III, or smaller, cities and rural areas.

Arivihan said 80% of its subscribers are from Tier III cities and rural India. Co-founder and CEO Chandel noted the company aims to move beyond cheaper digital content. “We are making the entire personalised learning system affordable for every student,” he said, with location and language central to the effort.

The strategy also fits a wider policy push towards AI in education. In February 2026, the Ministry of Education launched the Bodhan AI Centre of Excellence and announced work on a Bharat EduAI Stack, an open and interoperable architecture designed to allow different systems to work together in AI-enabled learning.

In April, CBSE launched a computational thinking and AI curriculum for Classes III to VIII for the 2026-27 academic session. The government has also established a Centre of Excellence in AI for Education at IIT Madras with a Rs 500 crore allocation under the 2025-26 Union Budget.

The funding climate remains more selective than during the pandemic-era edtech boom. Tracxn data showed sector equity funding had fallen from about $4.3 billion in 2021 to $214 million in the first eight months of 2026, even as the median round size rose to $1.1 million.

Recent deals include Elevate Education, formerly Sunstone, which raised Rs 170 crore from WestBridge Capital in July to strengthen its technology and AI capabilities. Bengaluru-based Lytmus AI raised nearly Rs 5 crore in June to expand its AI-powered NEET preparation platform and personalised AI mentors.

Arivihan plans to deepen its presence in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar, while adding states and expanding its CBSE offering.

Prosus investor Dhruv Gupta said, “The company is demonstrating that AI can deliver a high-quality, individualised learning experience at mass-market price points.”

Arivihan, which raised a $4.17 million pre-Series A round in July 2025, was backed by Accel through its Atoms programme in March 2024.
